My Story
Yvette M. Miley serves as Executive Vice President, Inclusion, NBCU News Group. The News Group portfolio includes NBC News, NBC News NOW, NBCU Local Stations, and Telemundo. Miley’s responsibilities include recruiting and retention, training and development, employee engagement, strategic partnerships, and editorial initiatives across the News Group. She reports to NBCUniversal News Group Chairman Cesar Conde.
Miley founded and launched the award-winning continuous learning initiative, NBCU Academy in 2021. As the Executive-in-Charge of that dynamic venture, Miley has created an online, on-campus, on-demand platform that allows students, journalists, content creators, and digital and tech innovators to learn, grow, and engage with experts. NBCU Academy is known as a center of excellence offering free content for skills development. (www.nbcuacademy.com)
Miley has worked for NBCUniversal for 33 years. Before joining MSNBC and NBC News, Miley was a producer at the Miami/Fort Lauderdale-based NBC-owned and operated television station NBC 6/WTVJ. In July 2001, Miley was named Vice President and News Director of the then-owned NBC station, WVTM-NBC 13 in Birmingham, AL, and returned to NBC 6/WTVJ in 2002 as Vice President & News Director.
Miley is the recipient of many of the industry’s highest honors. She received five Emmy Awards, ten Edward R. Murrow Awards, a DuPont-Columbia University Award, a George Foster Peabody Award, and four Associated Press Awards. Additional accolades include the University of Florida’s Distinguished Alumna Award; the National Association of Black Journalists’ Chuck Stone Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017; and recognition from the National Press Club for her work as a mentor in 2016, amongst others.
Miley is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Investigative Reporters and Editors, the National Press Club, and the Online News Association. Her board memberships include ColorComm, the T. Howard Foundation, Salvation Army NWCC, and the Florida A&M School of Journalism and Graphics Board of Visitors.
She is also the founder of the Miley Miller Foundation (MMF), a nonprofit focused on promoting education and providing financial support for students. The MMF also provides funding to charities, community organizations, and other nonprofits.
Miley is a native of Riviera Beach, FL, and a graduate of Suncoast High School and the University of Florida.
