My Story

Yvette M. Miley is a leader who believes giving back is her responsibility and moral obligation. As the co-founder of the Miley Miller Foundation, the organization’s mission fulfills Ms. Miley’s desire to help those seeking an education.

In addition to her dedication to the Miley Miller Foundation, Ms. Miley is an acclaimed award-winning journalist. Ms. Miley has worked for NBCUniversal for 31 years. She serves as Senior Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the NBCUniversal News Group. Ms. Miley reports directly to the Chairman, Cesar Conde. She leads the company’s “50% Challenge Initiative” and she is the executive-in-charge of  “NBCU Academy”. Her responsibilities include recruiting and retention, training and development, employee engagement, strategic partnerships, and editorial initiatives.

She is the recipient of many of journalism’s highest honors. She received five Emmy Awards, ten Edward R. Murrow Awards; a Society of Professional Journalists’ Award; a DuPont-Columbia University Award; a George Foster Peabody Award for coverage of Hurricane Andrew in 1992; and four Associated Press Awards. Ms. Miley’s additional accolades include a Pride Stars Award by Adweek in 2020; Distinguished Alumna Award from the University of Florida in 2018; the National Association of Black Journalists’ Chuck Stone Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017; National Press Club recognition for her work as a mentor in 2016; a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Urban League of Palm Beach County in 2013; and the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce’s 2007 Corporate Executive of the Year. She was also named a Distinguished Graduate from the University of Florida in 1997.

Ms. Miley further acts on her commitment to giving back by serving on several boards. Her board work includes: ColorComm, the Stonewall Community Foundation, the T. Howard Foundation, the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army’s Northwest Community Center, the Florida A&M School of Journalism and Graphics Communication Board of Visitors, and University of Florida’s College of Journalism Dean Advisory Board.  Ms. Miley is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Investigative Reporters and Editors, the National Press Club, the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association and Online News Association.

Ms. Miley is a proud alum of the University of Florida. Go Gators! Although Ms. Miley has had an exceptional journalism career, she has answered a moral call to establish a nonprofit. Ms. Miley was born in Riviera Beach and attended Suncoast High School so it is not an accident that students in Palm Beach County are direct beneficiaries of the efforts of the Miley Miller Foundation.
